At CCC, this journey is categorized into four distinct phases: I. CONNECT WITH GOD: this phase addresses "membership" in the family of God and being part of the local church. This is also understood as Evangelism. II. RELATE & GROW: this phase is characterized by maturing ones faith by relating to other believers and growing spiritually. It is also understood as Edification. III. SERVE: this phase helps one discover how God has wired us for His service. It is also understood as Serving. IV. MULTIPLY: this phase completes the cycle as new disciples, workers, and leaders are developed. It is also understood as Leading, Mentoring & Multiplication.
In one sense, these phases may follow a sequential pattern in one’s discipleship journey, while in others, disciples on the journey will find themselves in more than one phase at the same time, i.e. discipling a new believer in the CONNECT phase, while relating and growing with others in the RELATE & GROW phase, while serving on a team or in an individual capacity in the SERVE phase, and/or potentially seeking greater equipping in the MULTIPLY phase.
The Discipleship Journey attempts to directly support Christ Community Church’s mission of “Grow a community passionate for God and His purposes” by developing 1) Authentic Community—building loving relationships and environments where people are able to share openly and honestly about their lives and Christ’s work in their lives; 2) Intentional Spiritual Discipleship—encouraging people to take personal initiative for their spiritual growth); and 3) Empowered Leadership—through training and application, develop leaders who lead with humility, love, and courage.
As you navigate through our website you will see how each of these four phases are incorporated into life at CCC. The cumulative effect of growth in these areas is growing as a whole and healthy Christian and an integral part of the local body, being transformed into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A big part of growing in Christ is consistently reading His word. We facilitate this with our Discipleship Journal program which began in January 2010. There are four levels of involvement available: The Children's Journal, The Youth Journal, The First Steps Journal, and the Life Journal. The Life Journal is designed to take you through the entire Bible in a year. The other three journals take a number of excerpts daily from the Life Journal readings, so everyone is reading the same topics on any given day. This can aid in specific discussions between friends, or as the family is gathered around the dinner table! You can see and select the journal that best fits you by contacting the church office. We ask for a $5 donation to cover the cost of purchasing the journals. Below are a few resources to help you get familiar with your journal.
